End of the year: a good moment to set new challenges and motivate your team

29 Dec 2015

A Business is based on the human team which makes up it: It is the engine that creates and produces all the services and products offered by the company, the ones who gets results and generate profits. That is to say, the company does not exist and has not sense without it.

Therefore, it is important that the work team is motivated and feels safe and confident about its daily work, as the achievement of positive, efficient and productive results will depend on it. Thus, there are many businessmen who forget about it.

A good leader must be able to motivate the team and the end of the year is a good moment to do so. Why?

  • It is a time when many corporate events are organized with the assistance of all the employees. The most common ones are company dinners, although there are other options like team buildings which let colleagues socialize and get to know each other better.
  • It can be seen as a year’s closing, and a balance of positive and negative points from the last months emphasizing those more effective and learning from them and analyzing the negative ones trying not to repeat them. It is also a good moment to present new goals for the future. It is important to share this balance with the whole team, as it is a good way to make them feel integrated in the project and thus, making them fight to succeed.
  • It is a good time to give a speech recognizing and thanking the daily effort and the good work done by the employees. This way, they perceive that their effort is valued, what motivates them to keep on working hard. The rest areas in Madrid Business centres, with a more relaxing atmosphere, can be a good Choice when it comes to carry out any of these activities (company toast, coffee or brunch with a special touch, etc).
  • Besides the verbal recognition, work can also be rewarded with incentives. For example, giving Christmas Hampers or extra pays are common in Spain but there are also other ways like recognition awards for employees (the best employee of the year, the most efficient, etc.) or offering labour flexibility to let them reconcile their working and professional life. All this will make them happier in their everyday lives and also in their work, which will increase their efficiency.
